Chase the Ancient Secret
On this page
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s, and your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.
The premise is a responsibility
Holding the key to a secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart is the store’s framing, and it makes the school year the setting rather than the plot. That distinction matters when you are deciding how much of the map to wander before pushing the main story forward.
Allies and Dark wizards
The store describes making allies and battling Dark wizards as the two poles of the campaign, one social and one violent. Since the same kinds of people appear on both sides of that line, who you spend your time with is part of how the story is experienced rather than a separate reputation score.
You decide the fate of it
Ultimately you decide the fate of the wizarding world, which the store pairs with the line that your legacy is what you make of it. Read together, those two statements put the ending in your hands and also put the meaning of the whole run alongside it.
The wizard making those choices is covered in becoming the wizard you want to be. The places it takes you is covered in exploring beyond Hogwarts.
