Use the Environment as a Weapon
On this page
Combat in Original Sin 2 is described as deep, tactical and turn-based, and the store’s advice is unusually specific about where the advantage comes from.
The battlefield is a tool
Use the environment as a weapon is one of the listed instructions, alongside using height to your advantage and manipulating the elements themselves to seal your victory. That makes the ground you are standing on part of the loadout rather than a neutral backdrop for the fight.
Elements combine
The store describes blasting opponents with elemental combinations as the next generation of turn-based combat. Because the combinations are the payoff, a fight is often won by choosing which effect to apply and in what order rather than by choosing the single strongest attack available.
Over 200 skills, and an AI to test them
You master over 200 skills across 12 skill schools, and the store warns that the game’s AI 2.0 is its most devious invention to date. A system that large rewards experimenting, but that warning is also the reason a plan which only works on paper is not really a plan.
The character behind those skills is covered in choosing who you are. The people standing beside you are covered in travelling Rivellon with three friends.
