About
Alexis Daria's You Had Me at Hola, published by Avon in 2020, begins after a messy public breakup puts the face of soap opera actor Jasmine Lin Rodriguez across the tabloid covers. Her next job takes her back to New York City, where she grew up, to take the lead in a bilingual romantic comedy being made by the country's biggest streaming service, and she arrives with a plan: as a leading lady, she will keep her private life out of the press.
The plan becomes harder to follow when a casting change pairs her with telenovela actor Ashton Suarez, who needs the role to prove himself to American audiences. The two of them have chemistry that the production can use on camera, and a professional reason to keep away from each other off it, which is complicated by the love scenes the show requires and by everything the two of them are dealing with privately.
Alexis Daria is an American romance writer whose best-known book is You Had Me at Hola. Her 2018 debut novel, Take the Lead, received a Romance Writers of America RITA Award, and the cover of You Had Me at Hola was designed by the illustrator Bo Feng Lin. Daria holds a bachelor's degree in computer arts and lives in New York City.
