Written in the Stars

Alexandria Bellefleur's Written in the Stars, published in 2020, opens with a disastrous blind date. Darcy Lowell's brother keeps arranging them, and after the latest one Darcy tells him it went well simply so that he will stop playing matchmaker. She has no interest in love or in the heartbreak that tends to follow it, so she does not expect the lie to cause her any further trouble.

Elle Jones is one of the astrologers behind the popular Oh My Stars account, and she believes in the kind of fate that Darcy has no time for. Darcy is punctual, analytical and about as far from free-spirited as Elle can imagine, and the two of them are certain they have nothing in common. Then Darcy's brother turns out to be Elle's new business partner, and he is delighted that the two of them got on so well, which leaves both of them caught in the story Darcy invented. Darcy asks Elle to play along, and Elle agrees on two conditions: Darcy will help her get through the holidays with her own overbearing family, and the arrangement will expire on New Year's Eve.
