Princess Winter of Luna is admired across the court for her grace and kindness even though her face is scarred.

About

Winter is a 2015 young adult science fiction novel by the American writer Marissa Meyer, published by Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of Macmillan. It is the fourth and last book of The Lunar Chronicles and the sequel to Cress.

The story is loosely based on the fairy tale of Snow White and moves the familiar pieces into a science fiction setting. Winter is the stepdaughter of Queen Levana of Luna, a ruler who maintains her hold on her people partly through the ability to make them see what she wants. Winter has the same power and refuses to use it, which has left her mentally scarred and politically inconvenient, and her feelings for Jacin, a guard in the palace where she lives, put them both at risk. Meanwhile the cyborg mechanic Cinder and her allies are gathering support against the queen across Luna and on Earth.

Meyer's other Lunar Chronicles books rework Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel in the same world, and Winter brings those threads together for the series' conclusion.
