Winter Turning

Winter Turning is a fantasy novel by the American writer Tui T. Sutherland, published by Scholastic in 2015 and part of the Wings of Fire sequence.

Winter comes from the royal family of the IceWings and has never managed to satisfy them. His sister Icicle has fled Jade Mountain Academy, and she is suspected of crimes she may be planning to repeat, which leaves Winter with a decision about whether she deserves to be helped. He sets out to find her. The other dragonets he shares a cave with, Moon, Qibli and Kinkajou, refuse to let him make the journey alone, even though he keeps explaining that IceWings deal with their own difficulties. The search takes the group into the territory of Queen Scarlet, and after that there is only one place left to go, which is home. The IceWings regard themselves as the superior tribe and expect to settle their own difficulties, and the journey ends at the Ice Kingdom, where the threat Winter has to face turns out to be his own family.
