About
Tribute is a novel by the American writer Nora Roberts, published in 2008. It is the story of a big-screen legend, a small-town scandal and a young woman caught between the two. Roberts sets it in Virginia, in a town where everyone has an opinion about her grandmother.
Cilla McGowan was a child actor and has found a more satisfying life restoring houses. She comes to Virginia's Shenandoah Valley to rescue the dilapidated farmhouse that once belonged to her grandmother, a legendary actress who died there of a supposed overdose more than thirty years before.
Cilla wants a normal life and does not get one. The house brings her dreams about her grandmother, and the town and the family both have their own versions of what happened in it. Her neighbour Ford Sawyer becomes a romantic partner and later the person who stands with her when the dreams and the family history begin to threaten her peace, and the novel works out which of the available accounts of the past is true.
