The Spanish Love Deception

Elena Armas's The Spanish Love Deception centres on Catalina Martin, who has told her family that she is bringing an American boyfriend to her sister's wedding in Spain. The little lie has spiralled out of control, and her ex and his fiancee are among the guests who will be at the wedding and expecting to meet him. She has four weeks to find somebody willing to fly from New York to Spain and help with the deception, and her family is raucous enough that fooling them will not be straightforward.

The last person she would have chosen is Aaron Blackford, her tall, handsome and condescending colleague, who offers to take the part anyway. Catalina would rather refuse him, but as the wedding gets closer he starts to seem like the only workable answer, and she begins to notice that he is not quite as insufferable away from the office as he is inside it.

The Spanish Love Deception was published in 2021. Elena Armas went on to executive produce the full-cast romance audiobook Know Your Newlywed, published by Simon & Schuster on 10 December 2024 and starring Tyler Posey and Mary Mouser.
