The Six-Gun Tarot
Golgotha is a cattle town in Nevada in 1869, out beyond the Forty-Mile Desert, and it keeps more than its share of unnatural secrets: a sheriff who bears the mark of the noose, a half-human deputy, a mayor guarding mythical treasures and a banker's wife in a secret order of assassins.
About
The Six-Gun Tarot is a horror novel by the American writer R. S. Belcher, published in 2013. It sets supernatural horror in a western town and is the first of his books about Golgotha.
Golgotha is a cattle town in Nevada in 1869, on the far side of the Forty-Mile Desert, and its ordinary appearance covers a great deal that is not ordinary at all. The sheriff carries the mark of the noose around his neck, and some of the townspeople say that he is a dead man whose time has not yet come. His deputy is half human and kin to coyotes. The mayor keeps a hoard of mythical treasures, a banker's wife belongs to a secret order of assassins, and a saloon owner with his fingers in everyone's business knows more about the town's origins than he lets on.
Golgotha has been a haven for the blessed and the damned alike and has known a great many strange events, but nothing like what is now stirring in the abandoned silver mine that looks down on it: a primordial darkness bleeding midnight into the world.
Unless the sheriff and his posse can saddle up in time to deal with it, Golgotha will not see another dawn, and neither will anything else.
