The Reckoning
Chloe Saunders and her friends Tori, Simon and Derek are on the run from the corporation that altered them, hiding in a safe house belonging to a former employee of the Edison Group.
About
The Reckoning is a novel by the Canadian writer Kelley Armstrong, published in 2010. It is the third and last book of her Darkest Powers trilogy.
The story picks the four teenagers up where the previous book left them: in hiding at a safe house owned by someone who used to work for the Edison Group, the corporation that experimented on them. Chloe is a necromancer who raises the dead in her sleep, and the powers she and her friends have keep developing faster than the adults supervising them can keep up with. The group's problem is no longer simply escape. Chloe's aunt may be dead, Rae, a friend from Lyle House, is still in the corporation's hands, and the only people able to help are a renegade group of supernaturals who have their own reasons for keeping out of the fight. When mishaps begin to look less like bad luck than sabotage, Chloe and the others have to work out which of the adults around them is still loyal to the Edison Group.
Armstrong keeps the book close to Chloe's narration, so the complications of running, hiding and trusting people are worked through at the pace a fifteen-year-old can manage.
