The Hollow Boy
London is in the middle of an outbreak of supernatural Visitors that Scotland Yard cannot handle and that has brought people onto the streets in protest.
About
The Hollow Boy is a novel by the English writer Jonathan Stroud, published in 2015. It is the third book of the Lockwood and Co. series.
The series is set in a version of London where the dead have become a nightly hazard, and the work of dealing with them is done by agencies of children and teenagers because adults cannot see or hear the Visitors. Anthony Lockwood runs a small independent agency with George, who researches, and Lucy, who can sense the dead more strongly than either of them, and the previous books have established both the ghost-hunting apparatus and the rivalry with the larger firms. In this one the outbreak is beyond the capacity of the authorities, the agency takes on more than it can safely manage, and a new member joins the household, which changes how the three of them work together. Stroud writes the books in Lucy's voice, and the fear is delivered through what she can perceive that the others cannot.
The series continued for two further books, and Stroud had already written the Bartimaeus novels before it began.
