The Chalice of the Gods
Percy Jackson saved the world more than once, and now he wants to finish his senior year of school and get into university like anybody else his age.
About
The Chalice of the Gods is a novel by the American writer Rick Riordan, published on 26 September 2023 by Disney Hyperion. It is the sixth book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and the first of a sequence called The Senior Year Adventures.
The book takes place after the earlier series and treats its hero as a teenager with an ordinary problem: he wants to go to the same university as his girlfriend Annabeth and needs a recommendation from the gods to be considered. Poseidon tells him why he is ineligible and what he has to do about it, and the first task involves Zeus's cup-bearer, whose chalice of immortality has been stolen. Percy works the case with Annabeth and Grover, fitting the investigation around school and around the fact that several of the gods are themselves suspects. Riordan wrote the original five books as a middle grade series, and this one continues the same characters with the mythology, the humour and the quest structure left in place.
The story is based on Greco-Roman myth and draws on the older books in the series rather than introducing a new pantheon, and Riordan followed it with further senior year adventures.
