The Accidental Vampire
Ever since an accident turned her into a knockout vampire, Elvi Black has been catching her sleep in a coffin, staying out of the sun and giving up garlic.
About
The Accidental Vampire is a paranormal romance by Lynsay Sands, published in 2007. Its heroine, Elvi Black, was turned into a vampire by an accident rather than by any decision of her own.
Everything she knows about being undead comes from what she saw in Dracula, so she sleeps in a coffin, stays out of the sun and gives up garlic. What she lacks is anybody to ask, because proper biting etiquette is not a subject she can raise with her mortal friends.
Her neighbours take the problem into their own hands and place a personal advertisement for her in the local newspaper. What it brings her is Victor Argeneau, a vampire who could have his pick of any woman and who is described as rich, powerful and very good looking.
The novel is about a woman who became something she never intended to be and the man who knows exactly what she is, and it runs on the mismatch between the folklore she has borrowed and the experience he actually has.
