Test of the Twins
Caramon Majere and Tasslehoff Burrfoot come out of their journey through time two years later than they meant to, into a world where an hourglass constellation fills the sky and nothing is alive.
About
Test of the Twins is a fantasy novel by the American writers Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, published in 1986. It is the third and final book of the Dragonlance Legends trilogy.
It begins where the second book left off, with the twins on opposite sides of the world: Caramon Majere and Tasslehoff Burrfoot are in a grey and empty landscape, and Raistlin Majere is in the Abyss with the cleric Crysania. Caramon and Tas arrive two years later than they intended, and the sky above them is dominated by the hourglass constellation that is Raistlin's symbol.
The world they have come into has been stripped of life, and among the first things they find in it is Caramon's own body. The novel follows the two of them through what is left of that world, alongside Raistlin's own account of the Abyss, and it finishes the Legends trilogy, which along with the Chronicles is generally treated as the core of the Dragonlance novels. The name of the book is also the name of a short story published in 1984, the first Dragonlance tale to appear, which was reprinted in the collection The Magic of Krynn.
