Small Favor
Nobody has tried to kill Harry Dresden for almost a year, and his life has finally begun to settle down; for once the future looks reasonably bright.
About
Small Favor is a contemporary fantasy novel by the American writer Jim Butcher, published in 2008. It is the tenth novel in The Dresden Files.
Harry Dresden is a professional wizard working out of Chicago, and for once his life is quiet: nobody has made an attempt on him for almost a year, and the future looks better than it has in a long time. What he has not escaped is his own past, because an old bargain has put him in debt to Mab, the monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe and the Queen of Air and Darkness, and she has decided to call in what she is owed. The favour she asks of him is small in her terms and impossible for him to refuse, and accepting it puts him between a nightmarish enemy and an ally who is just as dangerous, stretching both his abilities and his loyalties to the point where neither is reliable. The novel is set in a Chicago where the supernatural has its own politics and obligations, and Dresden's debts are part of the machinery of the series.
The Dresden Files is written in Dresden's first-person voice and follows him through a long series of cases in the same city.
