Scandal in Spring
After three London seasons looking for a husband, Daisy Bowman has been told by her father that she must find one now, and that if she cannot then she will marry the man he chooses: the ruthless and aloof Matthew Swift.
About
Scandal in Spring is a historical romance by the American writer Lisa Kleypas, published in 2006. It belongs to her Wallflowers series.
Daisy Bowman has spent three seasons in London looking for a husband without success when her father tells her, in the plainest terms, that she must find one immediately and that if she fails she will be married to the man he has chosen for her, the ruthless and aloof Matthew Swift. Daisy is horrified at the prospect, and being a Bowman she refuses to accept defeat, which means doing whatever she can to marry somebody else first. Her objection is less to being married than to the particular man her father has picked out, and Matthew is a practical choice made for reasons of her father's own. The novel follows her campaign and her discovery that Matthew is not the man she believed him to be, along with the social world of the season in which all of it takes place. A scandalous secret is also uncovered that could damage both Matthew and what has begun to grow between them.
Kleypas wrote the Wallflowers books as a connected series about four friends, and this is one of them.
