Rage of Passion
Maggie Turner takes her child to her godmother's ranch near Abilene, hoping to get away from her ex-husband's threats for a while.
About
Rage of Passion is a contemporary romance by the American writer Diana Palmer, published in 1987. It is set on a ranch in Texas.
Maggie Turner is a single mother whose ex-husband has been threatening her, and a holiday at her godmother's ranch near Abilene looks like the ideal place to get away from him for a while. The plan would have worked if Gabe Coleman had not been there. Ten years after she last knew him he is exactly as blunt, as rude and as unsettling as he ever was, and his cold formality and the way he watches her are enough to make her uncomfortable. Maggie had believed that her marriage had cured her of desire, and the novel follows what happens when a Texas cowboy makes her revise that conclusion. The legal pressure from the custody dispute and the intimidation she is living under run alongside the romance, and the ranch is the place where both of them have to be faced.
Palmer wrote a great many category romances in this period, and the Texas ranch setting of this one is typical of her work.
