No Humans Involved
Jaime Vegas is a medium who can genuinely speak to the dead, unlike most of the spiritualists she works alongside, and she has spent her career hiding the fact.
About
No Humans Involved is a novel by the Canadian writer Kelley Armstrong, published in 2007. It is the seventh book in her Women of the Otherworld series and the first of them narrated by the necromancer Jaime Vegas.
The series is set in a present day where werewolves, witches and other supernatural beings live alongside ordinary people who do not know about them. Jaime makes her living as a celebrity medium, and she is unusual in her profession because she actually can do what she claims, which has made her careful over the years about how much of it she lets anyone see.
The television production brings three spiritualists together in one house to attempt a seance, and it is the most exposure Jaime has ever agreed to. What she finds there is not the publicity she was expecting: a spirit in the grounds behind the house has no voice and cannot rest, and it will not let go of her until its story is told. Jaime turns for help to Jeremy Danvers, a werewolf she has known a long time, and the two of them look into what has been done in that garden.
