Kiss of the Highlander
Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar is trapped between centuries, having slept for nearly five hundred years in a cave under a powerful spell until an unlikely saviour wakes him.
About
Kiss of the Highlander is a paranormal romance by Karen Marie Moning, published in 2001 and the fourth of her Highlander stories. Its leading man, Drustan MacKeltar, is a Highland laird who has been enchanted.
The spell put him to sleep for nearly five hundred years, hidden deep in a cave, until somebody woke him. The person who did it is a woman from his distant future, and the way she dresses and speaks tells him that he is not in his own century.
What he sees around him confirms it: the places he knew are ruins and his world is gone. He knows that he has to return to his own century if he is to save his people from a terrible fate he has already been told about.
The novel is about a man who needs the help of the woman who found him and about the woman who has to decide whether to give it, and it runs on the difference in what the two of them understand about where they are.
