It Happened One Summer

Tessa Bailey's It Happened One Summer begins in Los Angeles, where Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential and followed everywhere by photographers because of her reputation as a wild child. After a rooftop party gets out of hand, champagne included, she ends up in jail, and her stepfather decides that he has had enough. He cuts her off and sends her and her sister to learn responsibility by running the dive bar their late father left them, in the small fishing town of Westport, Washington.

Piper has not been in Westport five minutes before she meets Brendan, a large, bearded sea captain who takes one look at her and doubts she will last a week. She is determined to prove him, and her stepfather, wrong, and the bar, the town and the man in front of her all turn out to hold more interest for her than the life she has been sent away from.

It Happened One Summer was published by Avon in 2021 and opens the Bellinger Sisters series, which continues with Hook, Line and Sinker, published in 2022.
