I Dream of Genies

I Dream of Genies is a paranormal romance by the American writer Judi Fennell, published in 2011. It is the first book of her Bottled Magic series.

Matt Ewing is a businessman with a failing company and no particular belief in magic. He has been carrying a bottle about with him in the hope of some improvement in his circumstances, and what he gets is Eden, who is not a charm but a person, and who has been shut up in the bottle for two thousand years and is thoroughly tired of it.

Eden's intention is straightforward: she will repay the man who released her by giving him the assistance he needs. The execution is less straightforward, because two millennia in storage have left her out of practice and her attempts to help tend to produce consequences she did not plan. There is also a complication she has not mentioned, which is that a genie who falls in love loses both her magic and her immortality, and Matt is, inconveniently, the first man in a very long time who wants her rather than what she can do.
