Gone
In the space of a moment everyone over the age of fourteen disappears from a small town: no adults, no teachers, no police and no parents.
About
Gone is a young adult science fiction novel by the American writer Michael Grant, published in 2008. It is the first book of the Gone series.
In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears from the town except the young. Teenagers, middle-schoolers and toddlers are left behind, but not a single adult, which means no teachers, no police, no doctors and no parents. Gone with them are the telephones, the internet and the television, so there is no way of getting help from the world outside.
What is left is a population of children in a place where hunger quickly becomes a threat and bullies take control. The animals begin to mutate, and there is a sinister creature lurking in the town as well.
The children themselves are changing, developing new talents and powers that are unimaginable, dangerous and deadly, and that grow stronger by the day. Sides are beginning to be chosen and a war is coming, and the novel is the opening of a series about the young people of the town fighting one another and their own worst selves.
