From Dead to Worse
After Hurricane Katrina and an explosion at the vampire summit, everyone in Louisiana, human or otherwise, is under strain, including the cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse, whose boyfriend Quinn has gone missing.
About
From Dead to Worse is a novel by Charlaine Harris, published in 2008 and one of the stories about Sookie Stackhouse, a cocktail waitress in Louisiana with an unusual gift and an unusual set of acquaintances. Her gift draws the supernatural towards her, and the series has followed both the danger and the company it brings.
The book begins in the aftermath of two disasters, Hurricane Katrina and an explosion at the vampire summit, and the strain tells on everybody in her part of the state. Sookie is already coping with the fact that her boyfriend, Quinn, has gone missing when the supernatural population around her begins to rearrange itself.
The werewolves and vampires of her corner of Louisiana are changing how they organise and who leads them whether they want to or not, and Sookie is a friend to the local pack and blood-bonded to Eric Northman, which means she cannot stand aside. In the fighting that follows she faces danger, death and another betrayal by somebody she loves.
