Feverborn
MacKayla Lane has been hunting her sister Alina's killer, and when she receives a torn page from Alina's journal and reads the desperate words on it, she knows the killer is close.
About
Feverborn is a fantasy novel by the American writer Karen Marie Moning, published in 2008. It is one of her books about MacKayla Lane and the city of Dublin.
MacKayla Lane is a sidhe-seer, and she has been pursuing the person who murdered her sister, Alina. When a torn page from Alina's journal reaches her, the words on it leave her in no doubt that Alina's killer is close by, and that something worse is closer still.
What Mac is hunting is the Sinsar Dubh, an ancient book of dark magic whose corruption reaches anyone who so much as touches it. She is looking for answers, for revenge and for the book, in that order, and the search takes her through the shape-shifting streets of Dublin with a suspicious police officer behind her.
It also forces her into a dangerous alliance with two men at once: V'lane, a Fae prince with lethal and insatiable tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and secrets he does not share. Mac ends up in a battle for her body, her mind and her soul, and as All Hallows' Eve comes closer and the city falls into chaos, a truth about the Dark Book comes out that even she cannot stop, and a race of immortals sets about shattering the walls between the worlds.
