Ender in Exile
Orson Scott Card's Ender in Exile, published in 2008, is part of the Ender's Game series.
About
Orson Scott Card published Ender in Exile on 11 November 2008. It belongs to the Ender's Game series and sits between the first novel of that series and the sequel that followed it, the two books on which the series' reputation chiefly rests.
The book begins a year after Ender Wiggin has won the war against the Buggers. He cannot go home with the other children from Battle School, because the countries of Earth would fight over who got to keep him and use him, so he is offered the governorship of a colony instead.
In structure the novel works in several directions at once. It can be read as running parallel to the Shadow Saga, since the whole of that trilogy takes place inside the period this book covers, and it fills both the space before the last chapter of Ender's Game and the space between that chapter and Speaker for the Dead. It also gathers up short stories Card had published elsewhere, beginning with Ender's Homecoming, from his own webzine, and works them into the narrative as chapters.
