Dark Symphony
Byron, a Carpathian male and a hunter of vampires, follows the sound of compelling music to Italy, where he finds his lifemate: Antoinetta Scarletti, heiress to the Scarletti fortune and a concert pianist who holds her family together.
About
Dark Symphony is a paranormal romance novel by Christine Feehan, published in 2003. Its heroine, Antoinetta Scarletti, is a renowned concert pianist and the person her family depends on to hold itself together.
She was blinded in an explosion that killed her parents, and in spite of that she stands to take charge of the Scarletti shipping business. Byron is a Carpathian and a hunter of vampires who follows the sound of her playing to Italy, where he recognises her as his lifemate.
Antoinetta lives in the palazzo della morte, the palace of death, where she has the same problem her ancestors had: somebody wants her dead. She has secrets of her own as well, and the novel brings the hunt Byron has been conducting and the danger inside the palazzo into the same story.
What Byron finds in Italy is a woman who already manages a fortune, a family and a career without being able to see, and the loss of her sight has made her careful about who is allowed close. His arrival is one more thing to be measured, and the novel sets the danger inside the palazzo against the possibility that the man who followed the music is the only one telling her the truth.
