Dark Legend
Gabriel wakes deep within the ground, and the first sensation he feels is hunger, an overwhelming appetite for blood that demands to be satisfied.
About
Dark Legend is a paranormal romance novel by Christine Feehan, published in 2002. Its central character, Gabriel, wakes deep within the ground with a hunger for blood that takes hold of him before he is fully himself again.
He hunts the dark streets of Paris for prey, and while he is doing it a voice calls to him. The voice soothes and calms him and gives him enough strength to hold the craving in check, which turns out to be the beginning of the connection the book is built on.
The woman is Francesca Del Ponce, a healer whose goodness is described as radiating as powerfully as the sun does light. Gabriel's obsession with her is also the thing he fears, because his twin brother turned, and he believes the same fate is waiting for him.
The novel is about a man who is frightened of what he wants, and about whether the woman who is already keeping him steady is a remedy or the next step in his decline.
