About
Bride of the Wind is a historical romance by the American writer Heather Graham, published in 1992.
Rose Woodbine is the daughter of a wealthy Virginia planter, and she is brought across the Atlantic to the court of King Charles in England, where she is married against her wishes to Lord Pierce Deforte. She curses the fate that led her there, and she resolves that this is a man she can never allow herself to love.
Pierce's feeling for Rose once blinded him to what his enemies were arranging behind his back. The consequence was that he was banished from England, and he has spent the time since living as a pirate and pursuing revenge on the people who betrayed him, a list that now includes his former bride.
The two of them meet again on a storm-tossed sea, where he is no longer a nobleman but a notorious brigand known as Dragonslayer and she is his prisoner, forced to submit to his anger and his will. What follows between them is the rest of the novel, and it is not what either of them had planned.
