Black Creek Crossing
Angel Sullivan is thirteen and has spent her life being taunted at school and ignored at home.
About
Black Creek Crossing is a horror novel by the American writer John Saul, published in 2004. It is set in a small Massachusetts town and deals with what happens when a family with nowhere else to go moves into a house with a history.
Angel Sullivan is the teenager at the centre of the book. Her father, Marty, is drinking heavily and has just been dismissed from his construction job for injuring a colleague while drunk, and her mother's sister, a real estate agent in Roundtree, offers them a way out by finding a house they can actually afford.
The house is cheap for a reason that nobody quite says out loud. One of the people who lived in it killed his wife and daughter there years before, and the building is too old to demolish, so it has simply stood empty. Angel meets another outcast at school, Seth Baker, and the two of them begin looking into the story of the house, which is not finished with the family that has moved into it.
