Beneath a Darkening Moon
Savannah Grant is chief ranger of the Ripple Creek werewolf reservation and has buried her heartbreak in the job since the affair that ended badly years ago.
About
Beneath a Darkening Moon is a paranormal romance by the Australian writer Keri Arthur, published in 2004. It puts a werewolf community and a murder investigation on the same ground and lets the two of them interfere with each other.
Savannah Grant is the chief ranger of the Ripple Creek werewolf reservation, a job she has used to bury the scars of a love affair that went badly wrong years before. Then humans begin turning up dead on her reservation, killed in a pattern she recognises from a series of deaths she witnessed a decade earlier, in the same year she met and lost the man she loved.
The killer appears to have returned from the grave, and so, inconveniently, has her former lover. Cade Jones is an officer of the Interspecies Investigation Squad, and he is determined to catch the murderer he let get away once before, an escape he partly blames on a young werewolf who distracted him. The pair are forced back into each other's company, along with the secrets they have kept since then.
