Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter
At the age of eleven, Abraham Lincoln learns from his father Thomas that vampires are real.
About
Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, released on 2 March 2010. It is written in the form of a secret journal kept by the sixteenth President of the United States. and it is presented as a recovered document rather than as a novel about him.
The manuscript is supposed to have been given to the author by a vampire named Henry Sturges, and to have been found years later in a five-and-dime store in the town of Rhinebeck, New York. What it records is a lifelong pursuit of the undead.
It begins when Abraham is eleven and his father Thomas tells him that vampires are real. Thomas, drunk, explains that a vampire killed Abraham's grandfather in 1786, and that Abraham's mother Nancy did not die of milk sickness but was given a fool's dose of vampire blood after Thomas failed to repay a debt.
Abraham vows to kill as many vampires as he can, and the novel rewrites his biography around that promise, describing it as a part of American history that the record left out.
