A Dance With Dragons
After a great battle the future of the Seven Kingdoms is unsettled again.
About
A Dance With Dragons is a fantasy novel by the American writer George R. R. Martin and the fifth of the seven planned books of A Song of Ice and Fire. The US hardcover was published on 12 July 2011, and in some countries the paperback was divided into two parts, Dreams and Dust and After the Feast.
The novel picks up after a large battle and follows several separate stories rather than one. In the east, Daenerys Targaryen holds a city she took and rules it with her three dragons, aware that she has enemies in numbers she describes as three times three thousand and that some of them have set out to find her. Tyrion Lannister has left Westeros with a price on his head and is making his own way towards her, travelling with companions who are not what they appear to be. In the north, Stannis Baratheon has taken up position at the Wall after turning back an invasion, and Jon Snow, now the 998th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, has to decide what the Wall is actually for.
It is the only book of the series published while the television adaptation was running.
