16 Lighthouse Road
Olivia Lockheart is a judge in the small town of Cedar Cove, and she has just refused a young couple's divorce on the grounds that they have not tried hard enough to stay married.
About
16 Lighthouse Road is a romance novel by the American writer Debbie Macomber, published by MIRA in 2001 and the first book of the Cedar Cove series.
The book is set in a small Washington town where everybody knows everybody else's business. Judge Olivia Lockheart hears the divorce petition of Cecilia and Ian Randal, decides that the young couple have not made a proper effort to keep their marriage, and denies it, which makes her the subject of local argument. Her own household is not settled either: her daughter Justine is considering giving up on love and accepting a marriage that is arranged rather than felt, and Olivia's closest friend, Grace, is trying to work out why her husband Dan has become distant. In a town of that size, none of it stays private for long.
